THE POWER OF GLEE

AC/DC's Iron Man 2, Jimmy Buffett Bow in Top 10, ACM winners Lady A, Miranda Lambert Climb
Never mind Madonna.

Columbia’s Glee soundtrack to last week’s Material Girl tribute proved a winner in its own right, debuting at #1 on the HITS Album sales chart this week with 101k in sales.

Steve Barnett’s label team scores two of the top three, with AC/DC’s Iron Man 2 soundtrack bowing at #3, logging in 81k even before the May 7 opening of the film, which should jack up sales even more.

Capitol Nashville’s Lady Antebellum went over double-platinum this week, capitalizing on the ACM telecast to move back to #2, adding another 85k to its total, a 32% rise.

Island/IDJ’s Justin Bieber slipped from #1 to #4 with My World 2.0, while LaFace/JLG’s Usher rounds out the Top 5.

Mailboat’s Jimmy Buffet has the week’s other Top 10 bow at #7 with his Walmart exclusive Encores, while Capitol/EMI’s Now 33 (#6), Interscope’s Lady Gaga (#8), Bieber’s first album (#9) and Atlantic’s Zac Brown Band, another ACM mover (#10, +24%), complete the leader board.

Other Top 50 newcomers include veteran metal band Sevendust’s Asylum debut, Cold Day Memory (#11), Atlantic’s Circa Survive, featuring former members of Saosin and This Day Forward (#13), Rounder’s Willie Nelson (#19), Priority/EMI’s Cypress Hill (#22), Reprise’s American Idiot Broadway cast album (#32), Suburban Noize’s Kottonmouth Kings and veteran Loud & Proud/Roadrunner L.A. rockers Ratt (#42).

New West’s Crazy Heart soundtrack (#15) and Capitol/Nashville’s debut Lady Antebellum album (#46) both re-enter the chart, the former thanks to the DVD release of the movie that earned Jeff Bridges his Oscar.

Thanks to three ACM awards, including Top Female Vocalist of the Year, Columbia Nashville’s Miranda Lambert tops all gainers by moving #36-12, +108%.

19/Arista Nashville’s Carrie Underwood is next, moving #37-21, +50%.

Hitting stores this week are Zomba/RED’s Bullet for My Valentine, Atlantic’s B.o.B, Island/IDJ’s Melissa Etherdige, Mercury/IDJ’s Hole and Columbia Records’ Miranda Cosgrove, from Nickelodeon’s iCarly, featuring collaborations with Dr. Luke, Espionage and The Matrix.
