ADELE’S IN “DEEP”

Lonely Island, Christina Perri, Tyler, the Creator and The Cars All Debut in Top 10
It’s another week, and one more #1 finish for U.K. sensation Adele, who continues to dominate the sales story on both sides of the ocean.

Her XL/Columbia album, 21, logs its eighth week on the top of the HITS Album chart, now over 1.7 million and still climbing, with a second single yet to be released.

Capitol/EMI’s Now 38 is up a slot to #2, while three newcomers round out the Top 5 in Universal Republic Andy Samberg-led musical comedy troupe Lonely Island’s Turtleneck & Chain (#3), Atlantic chanteuse Christina Perri’s lovestrong. (#4, with its smash single, “Jar of Hearts”) and XL/Beggars hip-hop sensation Tyler, The Creator’s Goblin (#5), a solo effort from the leader of the L.A. collective Odd Future.

Hear Music/Concord veteran art-rockers The Cars’ first album in 23 years, Move Like This, debuts at #7, with Capitol/EMI’s Beastie Boys (#6), Sub Pop’s Fleet Foxes (#8), Island/IDJ teenpop phenom Justin Bieber’s Never Say Never—The Remixes soundtrack (#35-9, +126%, thanks in large part to last week’s DVD release) and Island/IDJ’s Jennifer Lopez (#10) completing the leader board.

Other new Top 50 entries include Columbia’s Raphael Saadiq (#19) and Manchester Orchestra (#21), Stax’s Warren Haynes (#23), Mercury/IDJ’s Matthew Morrison (#25) and eOne’s Black Label Society (#37). Lady Gaga, whose new Interscope album, Born This Way, hits on Monday, sees her Fame album re-enter at #42.

Bieber’s My World 2.0 is the week’s other big gainer, moving #38-18, while XL/Columbia’s first Adele album, 19, goes #25-14, +6%.

Among this week’s new releases are Wind-up’s Seether, Epic America’s Got Talent winner Michael Grimm, Virgin/EMI’s Ben Harper, Warner Bros. New Boyz, Warner Bros. Nashville’s John Rich, Mercury/IDJ’s Parachute, Disney’s Sharpay’s Fabulous Adventure soundtrack and Capitol/EMI’s Tinie Tempah. And then Monday, here comes Gaga.
