SPOTLIGHT
Mind the Gap
(www.mindthegapsound.com) describe themselves as "A Korean, a Sri Lankan, a Mexican, and a Jew from Cleveland." What they really are is an amalgam of acoustic rock harmonies and cutting-edge modern technology. The group was formed in 2008 when singer/songwriter duo Cahn & Yang met music producers Ru and Ozzy of The Bird Call Productions. The collaboration was formed with the help of music supe and former IDJ VP of Film and TV Jonathan McHugh. Audiences may already know them from their title themes to Unleashed: K9 Broward County and King of Clubs, Mass Animation: Live Music and The Education of Charlie Banks. They’ve also been commissioned to write theme songs for TV shows on Discovery, A&E, History, VH1 and Playboy TV. “Summertime” received AOL Spinner Download of the Day. MTG has shared the stage with the likes of The Black Crowes, Pretty Lights, Thievery Corporation, Widespread Panic, Meiko and Ida Maria. The band can be seen throughout the month of October on a Monday night residency at the Bootleg Theatre, then it’s off to N.Y. for CMJ Music Marathon. Their full- length debut, The Good Fight, released in August, is getting rave reviews and is available exclusively on iTunes.

ON DECK
Jinx
(www.facebook.com/jinxuniverse): You’ve been begging me to feature some killer hip-hop, and here it is. Jinx is a 22-year-old MC from Ayer, MA, who has toured with Nappy Roots and Wiz Kalifa and just released his first single on his Facebook page. The song, “Don’t Tell Nobody,” features singer/songwriter Ernie Halter and was produced by Lion’s Share Music Group. The thing I really like about Jinx is that he’s real. While a lot of rappers today are all about gimmicks, this guy is about strong lyrical content delivered with a smooth flow. Check him out and let me what you think.

ARTIST UPDATES
Recently featured act Stars Go Dim has been getting organic airplay across the country at Hot AC and Top 40, with lots of big radio shows in the books. They play 100+ shows a year, selling up to 600 tix in radio markets, and have booked a two-week November tour of the Philippines, where they had song of the year on top pop stations. SGD has sold 20k records independently, and released a new record on Tuesday. They’ve opened for everyone from Justin Bieber and Jonas Brothers to Jason Derulo and Goo Goo Dolls. Is it any wonder labels are calling?

Wheels favorite Allen Stone, still unsigned, released his sophomore album this week, and it went to #2 on the iTunes R&B/Soul Chart. Congrats to Allen and his team. We strongly urge you to download it here. Could be the best $5.99 you spend all year!
