DAVID GRAY, FLORENCE AND THE MACHINE ENTER THE FRAY

Veteran singer/songwriter David Gray and multiple VMA nominees Florence and the Machine are the latest entries in HITS’ Vibe-Rater chart of bands developing a buzz in the marketplace.

Gray’s The Foundling, his second album for the Mercer Street/Downtown Records label, isn’t in-stores until August 17, but the first single, “A Moment Changes Everything,” is already #1 Greatest Gainer at Triple A, with airplay at WXRT, KMTT, KTCZ, KPRI, KBCO, KINK, KGSR, WRLT and others. He begins a much-touted shed tour with Ray LaMontagne that starts Aug. 15 through Sept. 12, with appearances on CBS Morning Show Concert Series (8/20) and the Tonight Show (9/9) lined up as well. Universal Republic’s Florence and the Machine are currently basking in their four VMA nominations, including Video of the Year and Best Rock Video, for “Dog Days Are Over.” Their album Lungs has been out since last October. The band, fronted by the sultry Florence Welch, is currently #1 Most Added at Hot Adult with "Dog Days," including KLZR, KVLY, KPEK, WCDA, WAHR, KOSO, KLTG and Sirius Spectrum.
