Island/IDJ teen phenom Justin Bieber racks up another week at #1 with 89k, the lowest total of the year, but only the second below-six-figure chart-topper of 2010 (Lady Antebellum topped the chart in March with 92k).
Columbia had two debuts in the Top 5, with Grammy Best New Artist nominee MGMT’s Congratulations at #2 and fellow prog-rockers Coheed & Cambria’s Year of the Black Rainbow at #5. In all, Sony Music had six in the Top 10, including LaFace/JLG’s Usher (#3), Kemosabe/RCA/RMG’s Ke$ha (#7), J/RMG’s Monica (#9) and Epic’s Sade (#10).
A pair of EMI Music entries, Capitol Nashville’s Lady Antebellum (#4) and Capitol’s Now 33 (#6), round out the Top 10 with Interscope’s Lady Gaga (#8).
Television had a hand in most of the major upward moves, with Lady Antebellum’s ACM appearance sending it up 15%, Ke$ha’s SNL performance moving the dial 39%, Sade’s Dancing with the Stars spot sending it soaring a chart-best 53% and Atlantic Best New Artist winners Zac Brown Band’s ACM stint achieving a double-digit gain of 23%.
Atco/Rhino’s Jeff Beck album, Emotion & Commotion, is among this week’s chart newcomers, giving the veteran Rock and Roll Hall of Fame guitar god the best debut of his career at #13, with an American Idol appearance featuring Joss Stone on tap for tonight.
Nonesuch’s Natalie Merchant (#16), Atlantic’s American Idol alum Jason Castro (#20), Warner Bros.’ Gucci Mane mixtape Burrrprint (2) HD (#21), Mercury Nashville’s Broadway-turned-country star Laura Bell Bundy, with the first release from UMGD’s Velocity low-price initiative (#28) and Atlantic a cappella group Straight No Chaser (#29) round out the week’s Top 50 debuts.
