Nickelodeon's Kids Choice, Country ACMs and Canadian Junos Hand Out Honors
It was a weekend for Kids, Country and Canadians as Nickelodeon, the Academy of Country Music and the Junos handed out their annual honors.

Hosted by 10-time winner Will Smith, who promised a record amount of green slime, the 25th Annual Kids Choice Awards, held at L.A.'s Galen Center on the USC campus, boasted a who's-who of kiddie stars, along with such luminaries as First Lady Michelle Obama, Chris Rock and Halle Berry.

Selena Gomez, boyfriend Justin Bieber and Big Time Rush were the big winners. Gomez earned two awards, including Favorite Female Singer and Favorite TV Actress, while Bieber grabbed a blimp for Favorite Male Singer and Nick stars Big Time Rush took home Best Group.

Other winners include Adam Sandler (Favorite Movie Actor), Tim Tebow and Danica Patrick (Favorite Male and Female Athlete) and LMFAO's "Party Rock Anthem" (Best Song). The First Lady presented Taylor Swift with the Big Help Award for her charitable work, as the young pop star admitted, "I am freaking out." Among those to get slimed were Berry, Taylor Lautner and, finally, Bieber and host Will Smith. Among the performers was Katy Perry and red-hot U.K. boy band One Direction.

At last night's Academy of Country Music awards held in Las Vegas, televised by CBS, the big winners were Swift, Miranda Lambert and Jason Aldean.

Swift was named Entertainer of the Year, her second big honor in 24 hours, while Lambert took home two awards (Album of the Year for Four the Record and Female Vocalist of the Year) as did Aldean (Vocal Event and Single Record of the Year for "Don't You Wanna Stay" with Kelly Clarkson). Lambert's husband, The Voice star Blake Shelton, was named Male Vocalist of the Year.

Other winners included Eli Young Band's "Crazy Girl" (Song of the Year), Lady Antebellum (Vocal Group of the Year), Thompson Square (Vocal Duo of the Year) and Idol winner Scotty McCreery (New Artist of the Year).

Highlights included Martina McBride and Train’s Pat Monahan teaming up to help New Jersey couple Christina Davidson and Frank Tucci get married on-stage while they sang McBride’s “Marry Me," a quickie ceremony even by Vegas standards. KISS, in full make-up, presented Lady A with their trophy, while U2's Bono appeared live via satellite to introduce Dierks Bentley.

Saturday night's irreverent Juno Awards, the Canadian equivalent of the Grammys, was held at the Ottawa Convention Center and hosted by William Shatner, with the night's big winners Feist and Saskatoon Rolling Stone cover band the Sheepdogs.

Feist was declared Artist of the Year over City and Colour, Deadmau5, Drake and Michael Bublé after snaring Adult Alternative Album of the Year for Metals and Music DVD of the Year for Feist: Look At What the Light Did Now.

The Sheepdogs, who won a contest to appear on a Stone cover earlier this year, took Single of the Year honors for “I Don’t Know” after picking up New Group of the Year and Rock Album of the Year for Learn & Burn. In keeping with its infamously dogged work ethic, the quartet was unable to attend either ceremony because it’s currently on tour in Australia with John Fogerty.

Other winners included Vancouver folk-pop singer-songwriter Dan Mangan (New Artist of the Year, Alternative Album of the Year), Hedley (Pop Album of the Year), their producer Brian Howes (Jack Richardson Producer of the Year), Arkells (Group of the Year over Nickelback) and Buble's Christmas (Album of the Year over Drake).

Performers included Feist, Nickelback, Simple Plan and a finale starring DJs Deadmau5 and Lights.

The 81-year-old Shatner proved a droll host with a dry, monotone reading of Canadian classics, including Bryan Adams’ “Summer of 69,” Rush’s “Tom Sawyer,” Trooper’s “Raise a Little Hell” and Steppenwolf’s “Born to Be Wild.” His quip about combining “the two pillars of Canadian rock,” Nickelback and William Shatner, into a supergroup called “Nickelshat" was one of the show highlights.
