THIS WEEK’S DEBUT RIDES THE STRAIT AND NARROW

Lil Wayne to Repeat at #1, with George Strait Top Debut, Lindsey Buckingham's Indie Bow
It only seems like George Strait releases an album every few months. His latest MCA Nashville release, Here for a Good Time, is the 39th in his career, and first since 2009’s Twang.

Look for it to enter the HITS Album sales chart next week as the highest-ranking debut of the week, with sales estimated in the 75-85k range.

That’s based on one-day estimates from those physical and digital retailers who haven’t shut down from either hurricanes, earthquakes or hackers.

Cash Money/Universal Republic hip-hop star Lil Wayne’s Tha Carter IV will certainly remain #1 for at least another week after scoring close to a million in its debut on the charts.

Label principals Ronald “Slim” and Bryan “Baby” Williams, the New Orleans brothers who have worked with Weezy since he was a teenager at the label’s very beginning, were ecstatic at the news.

“This is a tremendous accomplishment for Lil Wayne and everyone here at Cash Money,” said Slim. “It’s a tribute to the hard work and commitment he’s always shown, since the beginning.”

"I consider him my son, part of the Cash Money family from the very start,” added Baby. “One thing I've learned. No record is safe from him.”

Mind Kit’s Lindsey Buckingham independently released solo album, Seeds We Sow, also hit retail this week.

Look for Capitol Nashville/EMI’s Lady Antebellum, Flip/Atlantic’s Staind, Roadrunner’s Dream Theater and Zuma Rock’s Bush up next at retail Sept. 13.

Album sales are up 29% vs. last week, up 27% vs. same week last year and up 3% year to date.

Track sales are flat vs. last week, up 15% vs. same week last year and up 11% year to date.

TEA (Track Equivalent Album) sales are up 20% vs. last week, up 24% vs. same week last year and up 5% year to date.
