IT’S A MOTHER OF A WEEK

Adele Still #1, Seven New Entries in the Top 10
We now have something else to be grateful to our Moms for.

Thanks to giving the gift of music on Mother’s Day, the HITS Album sales chart has a brisk week, with Adele spending a seventh time at #1, while seven newcomers enter the Top 10.

The U.K. pop diva’s XL/Columbia album 21 keeps steaming along, racking up another 155k to its total, soaring towards 1.6 million…with no end in sight.

Capitol/EMI cops the next two slots, starting with the Beastie Boys’ long-delayed Hot Sauce Committee, Part 2, which racked up 125k at #2, just ahead of the 38th edition of Now, at #3, with 124k.

Sub Pop’s Seattle neo-folkies Fleet Foxes debut at #4 with Helplessness Blues, while Island/IDJ’s Jennifer Lopez bows at #5 with Love? scoring 80k.

Reprise’s Stevie Nicks (#6), Epic’s Sade Ultimate Collection (#7) and Atlantic’s Musiq Soulchild (#8) all debut, while Glassnote’s Mumford & Sons (#9) and Broken Bow’s Jason Aldean (#10) round out the Top 10.

Other new Top 50 entries include Eleven Seven’s Nikki Sixx project Sixx: A.M. (#11) and Warner Bros.’ classic Fleetwood Mac Rumours album (#13), which benefits from last week’s themed Glee episode and a $7.99 iTunes sale.

Also debuting are Average Joe’s country singer Colt Ford (#28), MPCA’s Donny & Marie (#30, thanks to a QVC special) and My Block/Malaco’s Kelly Price (#39).

Capitol Nashville/EMI’s Lady Antebellum is the week’s biggest gainer, moving #43-23, thanks to their American Idol performance.

Other major movers include Big Machine’s Taylor Swift (#38-27, +61%), LaFace/JLG’s P!nk (#22-19, +53%), Columbia’s Glee: The Music Vol. 5 (#45-41, +46%) and Mary Mary (#47, +41%) and Arista/RMG’s Jennifer Hudson (#35-31, +40%).

Hitting retail this week are Universal Republic’s The Lonely Island, the musical comedy troupe fronted by SNL’s Andy Samberg; XL/Beggars Banquet’s Tyler, the Creator, part of L.A.’s notorious Odd Future Wolf Gang Kill Them All hip-hop collective; Atlantic’s Christina Perri, Mercury’s Matthew Morrison, Hear Music/Concord’s The Cars and Columbia’s neo-soul guitar slinger Raphael Saadiq along with Atlanta-based rockers Manchester Orchestra.
