WZRD Debuts in Top 5, Whitney Has Four in Top 10, Eight in Top 50
The numbers are starting to get staggering at this point.

XL/Columbia Grammy darling Adele’s 21 is now #1 for the 23rd week since she debuted there 54 weeks ago. With 244k more in sales, her total is up to 7.9 million, with 2.1 million of those since the first of the year. In addition, her 2008 debut, 19, is #6, with 38k, bringing that tally to 2 million.

The late RCA diva Whitney Houston scores four albums in the Top 10, including The Greatest Hits (#2), The Bodyguard soundtrack (#4), her self-titled debut (#9) and her final effort, I Look to You (#10), while four more re-enter the Top 50: Triple Feature (#24), My Love Is Your Love (#30), I’m Your Baby Tonight (#34) and Just Whitney (#36).

G.O.O.D/Universal Republic alternative hip-hop/rock duo WZRD, consisting of Kid Cudi and producer Dot da Genius, have the week’s top debut, entering at #3 with 70k in sales for their self-titled bow.

Capitol/EMI’s Now 41 (#5), YM/CM/Universal Republic’s Tyga (#7) and Fueled by Ramen’s fun. (#8) round out the Top 10.

Blue Note/EMI jazz/hip-hop hybrid Robert Glasper (#15), Watertower Music’s Project X soundtrack (#19), Atlantic’s Estelle (#29), Black River’s Craig Morgan (#35), Decca’s Celtic Thunder (#37) and Atlantic’s Jason Mraz live EP (#45) are the other Top 50 newcomers.

Spurred by the death of Davy Jones, Rhino’s Best of the Monkees comes in at #18, along with RCA Nashville’s Miranda Lambert (#31).

The two biggest gainers of the week are Houston’s I Look to You (#10, +15%) and Capitol/EMI’s Coldplay (#31-25, +6%).

Hitting retail this week are Columbia’s Bruce Springsteen and Mom + Pop/RED’s Andrew Bird, with Syco/Columbia X Factor U.K. finalists One Direction streeting the following week (3/13).
