ADELE-MANIA CONTINUES

21 Returns to #1 for the Fifth Time, Glee’s Warblers Debuts at #2
Adele is the diva that just keeps on giving, and Easter weekend was no exception.

This year’s sales champ returns to #1 for the fifth time since its release in February, adding another 154k (+68%) to 21’s million-plus total. On top of that, her other XL/Columbia album, the three-year-old 19, keeps moving upward, from #40-28, +59%. The Grammy race for Album, Record and Song may be over by the end of April.

That other phenomenon, Columbia’s Glee Cast: Glee Presents the Warblers, featuring rising star Darren Criss, is off to a great start, debuting at #2 with 84k, making it two out of two at the top of the charts for Team Sony’s Rob Stringer and Steve Barnett.

Last week’s chart-topper, Roswell/RCA/RMG’s Foo Fighters dip to #3. Walt Disney’s Lemonade Mouth soundtrack explodes with the premiere of the TV movie, moving #15-4, +196%, to #4. Jive/JLG chanteuse Britney SpearsFemme Fatale rounds out the leaders at #5, up 11% to 46k. Between them, Sony Music and RCA/Jive have four of the Top 5.

Rounder’s Alison Krauss & Union Station (#6), Glassnote’s Mumford & Sons (#7), Island/IDJMG’s Justin Bieber Never Say Never (#27-8, +109%), Jive/JLG’s Chris Brown (#9) and Hear Music’s Paul Simon (#10) complete the Top 10.

Other chart newcomers include Virgin/EMI’s Gorillaz (#30), while Razor & Tie’s Kidz Bop Kidz 19 (#41), Mercury Nashville’s Sugarland (#48) and Sony Music Nashville’s Miranda Lambert (#49) all re-enter.

The week’s other top gainers are Columbia’s Big Time Rush (#41-22, +108%), Big Machine’s Taylor Swift (#29-16, +84%), Capitol/EMI’s Katy Perry (#21-11, +78%), Universal Republic Nashville’s The Band Perry (#43-31, +61%), Island/IDJ’s Justin Bieber My World 2.0 (#28-17, +59%), Columbia’s Glee: The Music, Vol. 5 (#46-34, +59%) and Capitol./EMI’s Now 37 (#23-14, +54%).

Hitting retail this week are Island/IDJ’s The Airborne Toxic Event and Nonesuch’s Emmylou Harris, with Capitol/EMI’s Beastie Boys, Island/IDJ’s Jennifer Lopez and Atlantic’s Shinedown on Tuesday May 3.
