That gives Jive's Tom Carrabba and Joe Riccitelli two chart-toppers in two weeks after Chris Brown's #1 bow.
Atlantic rapper Wiz Khalifa turns out to be the week’s biggest surprise, debuting at #2 with his third album, Rolling Papers, and first for a major, which racks up a nifty 192k for the Pittsburgh Steelers fan whose “Black and Yellow” served as the team’s theme song, and now has “Roll Up” climbing the Urban charts.
XL/Columbia U.K. pop diva Adele’s 21 continues its run, closing in on a million sold in the U.S. at #3, adding another 94k to its total, followed by Jive/JLG’s Brown at #4, and Universal International’s benefit album Songs for Japan rounding out the leaders at #5.
The physical release of Radiohead’s The King of Limbs on their own TBD label (through RED) will add some 60k to its unannounced digital total, good for a #6 bow. DS/ Priority/EMI’s Snoop Dogg album, Doggumentary, debuts at #8, while Columbia Grammy-winning gospel duo Mary Mary have Something Big going on as it enters at #10.
Arista/RMG’s Jennifer Hudson (#7) and Gospocentric’s Kirk Franklin (#8) are the other holdovers, giving Jive/RCA four and Sony Music six of the Top 10, respectively.
Other newcomers include WaterTower Music’s Sucker Punch soundtrack (#24), ABC’s Grey’s Anatomy: The Music Event album (#27), Island/IDJ’s Sum 41 (#31), Metal Blade’s Amon Amarth (#33), Atrevida’s Sara Ramirez (#35), Rostrum’s Mac Miller (#37), two separate Heavy on Grind/EMI albums from rapper E-40 (#44, #45), Verve Forecast’s Boney James (#48) and Roadrunner’s Within Temptation (#49).
Roswell/RCA/RMG’s Foo Fighters Greatest Hits re-enters at #40 in anticipation of the band’s upcoming album and, fresh off his Idol tribute and SNL appearance with Leon Russell, Island/IDJ’s Elton John Rocket Man Number Ones is back on the chart at #47, thanks to an aggressive low price at Amazon to promote its new Cloud Drive service.
The week’s double-digit gainers are Capitol/EMI’s Katy Perry (#24-16, +15%) and
