The men of
Coldplay have just circled several more dates on their already-packed calendar for the first half of 2012.
This week, during which with the band received the
Brit Award for Best British Group, will culminate with a performance on the seventh annual
Jimmy Kimmel Live: After the Academy Awards special, televised live on
ABC from Hollywood's El Capitan Theatre on Sunday, immediately following the
Oscar telecast and late local news. Coldplay will be joining a host of A-list guests that includes
Meryl Streep,
George Clooney,
Matt Damon,
Tom Hanks,
Billy Crystal,
Charlize Theron and
Don Cheadle. The band’s block party performance on the show’s outdoor stage will wrap up the special and include a performance of “Charlie Brown," the latest single from
Mylo Xyloto.
They’ll also play the song—which
Q hailed as "one of the best things Coldplay have done—as part of their three-song set during their first appearance on ABC's
Good Morning America the following Friday (3/2), performing in the show's Times Square studio.
By the way, the
Mat Whitecross-directed video for "Charlie Brown," featuring
Shameless star
Elliot Tittensor and
Misfits star
Antonia Thomas, has drawn rave reviews as well. "Per usual, Coldplay makes us feel ecstatic, energized and melancholy all at the same time in this appropriately beautiful video for such a haunting track," said
Idolator.com. The new clip, which you can see
here, follows the "Paradise" video, which has racked up over 70 million views.
Two days after
GMA (3/4), Coldplay will perform at
Amnesty International's
Secret Policeman's Ball at New York's Radio City Music Hall. Marking the first time the Ball has been held in the United States, the evening will offer the ball’s recipe of music juxtaposed with comedy, all written around and in support of free speech. The all-star cast will include
Russell Brand,
Stephen Colbert,
Seth Meyers,
Sarah Silverman,
Jon Stewart,
Jason Sudeikis,
Reggie Watts and
Kristen Wiig.
EPIX, the multi-screen, multi-platform premium entertainment service, will telecast the event live and commercial-free and free of charge in the U.S. at 7 ET/4 PT. More details at

Coldplay will kick off its first North American tour in nearly three years on April 17. The run, which begins at Rexall Place in Edmonton, AB, will include a sold-out three-night stand at the Hollywood Bowl on May 1, 2 and 4). Supporting acts will include
