WHEELS 2.0 IN AN AUTUMNAL MOOD
This Week, Jesse and Erica Sing “Oklahoma” and Contemplate Splitting Town ’til November
Once again, Wheels 2.0 jumps from one genre to the next. This week we’ve been focused on the Sonicbids contest—and yes, the winner will be announced shortly—but these three artists caught our attention and could not go without mention. Go to their MySpace pages, take a listen and let us know what you think at [email protected]

Aranda: These two brothers from Oklahoma released their debut album in April and are starting to create a bit of buzz with the track “Still in the Dark,” currently spinning at Active Rock and recently added to WRIF, WCCC and WKLQ, as the group tours the Midwest. Check them out at www.myspace.com/aranda,and don’t be left in the dark (see how we did that?).

Gone ’til November: Hailing from Boston, this five-piece is building its own story, due in large part to Aimee Proal’s knack for writing what sound to us like potential hits, including “Save You,” co-written with Ryan Tedder of OneRepublic. The demo for “Save You” is one of four tracks streaming at www.myspace.com/gonetilnovember.

Maiysha: Lotsa industry buzz about neo-soulstress Maiysha, whose debut, This Much Is True, just dropped on the UFO-distributed indie Eusonia Records, and she’s already drawing comparisons to the likes of Beyonce and Alicia Keys in her smart lyrics and elegant grooves. With influences like Diana Ross, Chaka Khan, Donna Summer, Stevie Wonder and Prince, the Sarah Lawrence alum credits her attorney dad and TV journalist mom for raising her on '70s and '80s pop soul. Oh, yeah, she's also a model. Her video for “Wanna Be” is still going strong on VH-1 Soul, and the publishing companies are showing some major interest in her and producer and Eusonia founder, Scott Jacoby. She was a featured performer for the opening night party of the VisionFest Film Festival in NY on Wednesday, and we know that major label senior execs were sniffing around at both release parties last week. It is just a matter of time before her career soars. Sample her album at www.myspace.com/maiyshamusic.
