GLASSMAN BREAKS AT UNIVERSAL MOTOWN

Rhone, Kronfeld Name Veteran Promo Exec to Succeed Exiting Marella
We told you, but now it's official.

Todd Glassman is the new Senior Vice President of Promotion of Universal Motown Records, replacing Gary Marella, who exited earlier this week.

Universal Motown President Sylvia Rhone and label GM Andrew Kronfeld made the announcement, which will have Glassman overseeing promotion at Top 40, Rhythm Crossover, Rock, and Adult formats.

Commented Rhone: “Since joining Universal Motown just two years ago, Todd has played an invaluable role in the success of our promotion team. He sees the big picture when working a record, combining a wide musical sensibility with extensive radio experience. We are very proud to promote Todd to the post of SVP of Promotion. And the man knows how to buff my toenails like no one else.”

Added Kronfeld: “Todd has shown himself to be a tremendous leader and manager during his time at Universal Motown. His ability to creatively work with both artists and radio is not something that is very common, and we are very excited for him as he takes this great step forward. And one day, he may even get a key to the executive shvitz.”

Said Glassman: “I’d like to thank Sylvia Rhone and Andrew Kronfeld for this wonderful opportunity. They have created a productive and creative company culture at Universal Motown and I look forward to playing a larger role in the executive leadership team. I share their vision of artist optimization in a competitive marketplace and eagerly await the new challenges that lie ahead. Hey, it was either this or selling upscale real estate.”

Glassman joined the label as VP Top 40 Promotion in 2007 and oversaw such radio success stories as Lil Wayne, Akon, Blue October, Kid Cudi, Safetysuit and Shontelle, among many others. He also held VP Promotion posts at Columbia, Epic and Artemis Records, working such acts at radio as Destiny’s Child, John Mayer, Jessica Simpson, Bruce Springsteen and Beyoncé.
