THOMPSON, COB-BAEHLER GET BIG LOVE FROM EMI
Thompson Named EVP Marketing and Promo; Cob-Baehler Takes On Added Responsibilities as SVP Media and Creative Services
It's now the Greg and Angelica show.

EMI Music N.A. has appointed Greg Thompson to an expanded, new role as Executive Vice President, Marketing and Promotion. In addition to leading EMI Music’s radio and video promotion teams, Thompson will take on additional responsibility for product management, tour marketing, consumer insight, interactive marketing and the inter-office fantasy football league. He’ll continue to be based in New York, reporting to Colin Finkelstein, Regional President for EMI Music in North America.

New mom Angelica Cob-Baehler will assume additional responsibilities as Senior Vice President, Media and Creative Services. In addition to heading up EMI Music’s publicity and creative services teams, she will now oversee video production, grassroots marketing, media buying and trimming daughter June Alba's unibrow at the appropriate age. She’ll continue to be based in L.A. and report to Finkelstein.

EMI Music’s central marketing team oversees U.S., Canada and Mexico, as well as the family of labels, including Angel, Astralwerks, Blue Note, Capitol, Capitol Latin, Capitol Nashville, Manhattan and Virgin

Said Finkelstein: “Greg has successfully built a solid promotion team to support the new EMI frontline roster organization, with strong leaders in every format. We are now tapping Greg’s proven leadership to oversee additional marketing areas. He delivers, time and again. He has a proven understanding of the music consumer, and the growing number of ways fans are listening to and discovering music. He will be invaluable to us as we continue building our roster and connecting artists with fans.”

About Cob-Baehler, Finkelstein commented: “Angelica has been extremely effective in helping our artists express their unique personalities, talents and stories and reach new audiences. Under Angelica, EMI has built a fantastic team of publicists and creative talent. She has a unique ability to connect with artists and has earned the respect of their managers. We’re confident she’ll continue to help us deliver excellent service for our artists.”

Howard Handler, the current EVP of Marketing, will be leaving the company, prompting Finkelstein to note, “We at EMI thank Howard for his contributions and wish him all the best.”

Before EMI, Greg was EVP, Promotion at IDJ, where he played a key role in the development of artists such as Rihanna, Kanye West, Mariah Carey, The Killers, Ludacris, Young Jeezy, Fabolous and Fall Out Boy. Prior to joining IDJ, he was with Elektra, becoming EVP/GM in 1999. He has also held senior promotion posts at EMI, SBK and Chrysalis Records. Greg earned a BA degree in telecommunications from Michigan State University, where he was known as "Magic" Thompson.

Before joining EMI in 2006, Angelica spent five years as VP Publicity for Columbia. While at Columbia, she developed and executed media campaigns for multi-platinum artists including John Mayer, System of a Down, The Offspring and Switchfoot, along with steering the campaigns of alternative music artists like The Raveonettes and Coheed and Cambria. She began her music industry career in 1993 at Atlantic, where she first mastered her incredible Patti Conte impression.
