SWIFT RIDE TO #1

Archuleta, Now 29, T-Pain, Enya and Aguilera Bow in Top 10
She’s young, talented, beautiful and Fearless.

Big Machine country princess Taylor Swift debuts on top of the HITS Album Sales chart this week, scoring just under 600k for her sophomore effort.

That is more than enough to top Jive/ZLG American Idol runner-up David Archuleta (#2), UMe’s Now 29 (#3) and Jive/ZLG’s T-Pain (#4), all newcomers to the Top 5.

That gives BMG Label Group macher Barry Weiss two entries on this week’s leader board as the Q4 stretch run begins.

Other Top 10 newcomers include Reprise new age goddess Enya (#7) and RCA/RMG’s Christina Aguilera greatest hits Target exclusive, Keeps Gettin’ Better (#9).

Last week’s chart-topper, Chop Shop/Atlantic’s biting Twilight soundtrack, is now #5, followed by holdovers like Columbia’s AC/DC (#6), Disney’s High School Musical: Senior Year soundtrack (#8) and Grand Hustle/Atlantic’s T.I. (#10).

Warner Bros.Seal (#13), Provident/Reunion’s Casting Crowns (#34) and UMe/Universal Republic’s 10th anniversary Best of Now compilation (#36) are the other new Top 50 entries.

The Country Music Awards show their effect, with 19/Arista/RMG’s Carrie Underwood (#44-33, +87%), Mercury Nashville’s Sugarland (#27-20, +64%), Capitol Nashville’s Darius Rucker (#41, +55%), Big Machine’s previous Taylor Swift album (#22, +44%), WB Nashville’s Faith Hill (#24, +33%), Atlantic’s Kid Rock (#15, +19%) and BNA’s Kenny Chesney (#18, +17%) all up in double digits.

Other big movers for the week include RCA/RMG’s Kings of Leon (#37, +51%), Columbia’s Harry Connick Jr. Christmas album (#47, +44%), Word’s Wow Hits 2009 (#40, +31%), Star Trak/Interscope’s Robin Thicke (#43, +28%), Hollywood’s Miley Cyrus (#46, +25%), J/RMG’s Jazmine Sullivan (#44, +23%), Atlantic’s Jason Mraz (#30, +16%), Capitol’s Katy Perry (#39, +11%) and Def Jam/IDJ’s Rihanna (#29, +10%).

Streeting this week are Columbia’s Beyonce, Roadrunner’s Nickelback, RCA’s David Cook, Arista/RMG’s Dido and Columbia’s Il Divo, with Geffen’s Guns N’ Roses Best Buy exclusive coming on Sunday (11/22) and IDJ’s Big Three of Kanye West, The Killers and Ludacris next Monday (11/23), along with Arista/RMG’s Barry Manilow.
