Gerina Di Marco: This female artist is of Venezuelan and Italian descent and speaks three languages. She started singing at a very young age and ended up winning the Venezuelan version of Star Search. After relocating to Miami to further her career, she ended up writing Thalia’s biggest record to date, “Cerca De Ti/Closer To You,” which was a #1 Latin Billboard record for three months and won her a BMI Songwriter of the Year Award. Gerina’s current English language single, “Right or Wrong,” has garnered north of 500k plays on Yahoo Music, and the video is heading in the same direction. She’s also had prime TV placements on The Hills and the finale of Celebrity Circus. Best of all, her live performance is absolutely incredible! This is one artist to definitely keep a close eye on in the New Year. Stay locked to Wheels in ’09 for more updates on this exciting artist. (www.myspace.com/gerinamusic, www.gerinamusic.com)

Local Natives: A five-piece indie band hailing from Orange who now call Silverlake home, these guys reminds us of My Morning Jacket and The Fleet Foxes. They’re about to head out on a month-long tour with The Union Line and Voxhaul Broadcast, hitting several cities for the first time. Check em out at the Silverlake Lounge on Dec 8th before they hit the road. The band’s upcoming full-length album will be out early next year, while the video for the new single “Camera Talk” will be available on their MySpace page soon. (www.myspace.com/localnatives)
