BMI’s annual mobile music market revenue projections for the year reveal that ringback tones (the tones subscribers hear when they place calls to other subscribers) will surpass $235 million in U.S. retail sales this year, up 15% from the org’s 2008 estimate of $205 million and 68% from the 2007 estimate of $140 million. More than 10 million U.S. subscribers are signed up for ringback-tone services with their wireless carriers... Universal Music Publishing makes some moves, with Chairman/ CEO David Renzer tapping veteran execs Evan Lamberg and David Kokakis as EVP Creative E.C. and VP Business Affairs/Business Development, respectively. Both will have to pay out of their own pocket for new business cards… In other UMPG news, the pubbery pacts with Experience Hendrix LLC, the family company formed in 1995 by Jimi’s late father James “Al” Hendrix and now headed by his daughter Janie Hendrix, to bring the guitarist’s music to the world outside the U.S., repping the catalog for film, TV, advertising and LSD tabs… EMI Music Publishing has reached a deal with the Copyright Music Organization of Trinidad and Tobago (COTT) to become its collection society. Kelly, Jordin Sparks and Christina Aguilera… The Harry Fox Agency announced that it collected $307.1 million in music rights licensing fees, a 22% decline from 2007, though they issued over 2.44 million mechanical licenses in the year, 62% more than in 2007....
