KLAIMAN UPPED TO EVP PROMOTION & ARTIST DEVELOPMENT

Universal Republic Vet Gets an "E" instead of an "S" in Front of His VP Promotion and Artist Development

Well-respected vet Joel "A Hundred Pounds of" Klaiman has been upped to EVP Promotion and Artist Development at Universal Republic by label President/CEO Monte Lipman.

Klaiman's first task will be creating a radio-ready mash-up of “Tubthumping” and “Rehab.”

Said Lipman: “Since joining Universal Republic, Joel has helped us successfully catapult the label into becoming one of the industry’s premier music companies. He has consistently demonstrated the vision and expertise necessary for building and shaping our growing company, while continuing to be instrumental in the break-through success of such artists as Amy Winehouse, Hinder, Colbie Caillat and Taylor Swift, among others. At least that's what he keeps telling me.”

Added Universal Motown Republic Group Chairman/CEO Mel Lewinter: “Joel’s talent, experience, ability to work well with our artists, and knowledge of the radio, video and digital landscapes, has been great assets to our company. The entire Universal family joins me in congratulating him on this milestone accomplishment. Now pass the whitefish, willya?”

Said Klaiman: “There are precious few companies like Universal Republic, and even fewer opportunities to work with people like Mel, [Co-President] Avery Lipman and Monte. I am grateful for all of their continued support, and I’m looking forward to continuing to contribute to one of the most dynamic teams in the business this side of General Motors.”

In 2006, Klaiman was named SVP Promotion and Artist Development at Universal Republic after coming over from Epic Records, where he was EVP Promotion. Prior to that, Mr. Klaiman has held a number of executive positions in the music business, including roles at Sony 550 Music-The Work Group, EastWest Records, the Elektra Entertainment Group and Savage Records. Klaiman began his career in 1990 as a manager for Frank DiLeo Management, where he housetrained Bubbles.
