TAYLOR SWIFT WINS IN MAJOR CATEGORIES AT CMT AWARDS

Kellie Pickler Makes the Idol to Stardom Transition With Three Wins
Breakout country star Taylor Swift had her coronation at the CMT Awards Monday night in Nashville, winning Video of the Year and Female Video for her carerr-making single "Our Song."

"I wrote that song in the ninth grade for a talent show," said the 18-year-old Swift, who beat out Kenny Chesney, Brad Paisley and Sugarland.

The other big winner was American Idol alumna Kellie Pickler, as the 21-year-old snagged awards for Breakthrough Video, Tearjerker Video and Performance of the Year for "I Wonder." Pickler acknowledged Idol for being "the rocket that launched my career."

Alison Krauss & Robert Plant repeated their Grammy win, as “Gone, Gone, Gone” took honors in the Wide Open Video category. Paisley and Sugarland didn’t go home empty-handed, winning Comedy Video (for "Online") and Duo Video (for "Stay"), respectively.

Trace Adkins took home Best Male Video for "I Got My Game On," while LeAnn Rimes and Bon Jovi got Best Collaborative Video for the "Till We Ain't Strangers Anymore."

Miley Cyrus and her daddy, Billy Ray Cyrus, hosted the show.

Big props to CMT head wrangler Brian Phillips for putting on another winner, and to new programming head Jay Frank for completing his first ride on the metaphorical mechanical bull without falling on his tuchus.
