HOW SWEET IT IS!!

Sugarland Leapfrogs Miley Cyrus for #1, Mamma Mia! #3, Third Day, Kidz Bop Bow
Stop, Luke and listen.

Sugarland and Universal Nashville chief Luke Lewis’ strategy to follow up the “deluxe fan edition” of their new album Love on the Inside, with the regular version, pays dividends this week, climbing over Hollywood’s Miley Cyrus for the #1 spot on the HITS Album sales chart.

The album as off just 45% in its second week, with 169k in sales, enough to turn back teenpop queen Cyrus, whose Breakout album dips 57% to 158k, good for #2.

Decca’s Mamma Mia! soundtrack continues to do impressive numbers, with a total of 134k, good for #3.

Atlantic’s Kid Rock maintains the momentum and message of his “All Summer Long” single, still at #4, with another 95k in sales.

Cash Money/Universal Motown’s Lil Wayne rounds out the Top 5 with his multi-platinum Tha Carter III.

Provident/Reunion Christian rockers Third Day are the week’s top debut, landing at #6 with their Sony-distribbed Revelation at #6, selling 80k.

Capitol’s Coldplay (#7), Disney’s Camp Rock (#8), Razor & Tie’s debuting franchise Kidz Bop 14 (#9) and Def Jam’s Nas (#10) complete the Top 10.

Interscope’s System of a Down spinoff, Scars on Broadway, debut at #18, with other newcomers New Door/UMe veteran heartthrob Rick Springfield (#30) and Anti’s One Day as a Lion, featuring Rage Against the Machine vocalist Zack de la Rocha and ex-Mars Volta drummer Jon Theodore (#40).

Jive/ZLG superstar Chris Brown led the double-digit gainers with Exclusive up 13% at #33, followed by Universal Republic’s Flobots, up 10% at #38.

Other gainers include Columbia’s John Mayer (#24, +6%), Big Machine’s Taylor Swift (#13, +5%), Hollywood’s Jonas Brothers (#14, +5%), A&M/Octone’s Maroon 5 (#39, +5%) and Eleven Seven’s Motley Crue (#43, +5%).

This week’s releases, expected to chart next Tuesday, include The Inc./Universal Motown’s Lloyd, Curb’s Heidi Newfield, Razor & Tie children’s artist The Laurie Berkner Band, Victory’s Hawthorne Heights and Sony Nashville’s Keith Anderson.

Next big release, the Jonas Brothers’ new Hollywood album, A Little Big Longer, which hits a week from today (8/12).
