Capitol Nashville’s Lady Antebellum, whose Need You Now is the year’s first platinum-plus release, returns to #1, logging in another 124k in sales for a total approaching 1.3 million.
That was enough to dislodge Epic’s Sade album, Soldier of Love, from the top spot after three weeks, with another 76k in sales bringing her cumulative total close to 900k.
Jimmy Iovine’s one-two punch of Interscope’s Lady Gaga (#7) and Black Eyed Peas (#8) are the only other holdovers, as six newcomers crash the Top 10, with Warner Bros. Nashville’s Blake Shelton six-song album, Hillbilly Bone, leading the way at #3, selling 72k in its debut week.
19/RCA Nashville American Idol alum Danny Gokey’s My Best Days bows at #4, with
Geffen’s Lifehouse (#6), Beluga Heights/WB’s J. R. Rotem discovery, Jason Derulo (#9), and Mercury’s Easton Corbin (#10) round out the new entries in the Top 10.
Jive/JLG’s Raheem Devaughn (#11), E1 Music’s DJ Khaled (#13), Verve Forecast’s Jamie Cullum (#41) and Side One Dummy’s Flogging Molly (#48) are all Top 50 newcomers.
The week’s big gainer is New West’s Crazy Heart soundtrack, which includes Ryan Bingham and T Bone Burnett’s Oscar-winning “The Weary Kind,” moving #29-27, +32%.
Also in the black are Island/IDJ’s Justin Bieber (#15, +7%), Reprise’s Michael Buble (#26, +6%), Cash Money/Universal Motown’s Young Money (#32, +6%), Lady Gaga’s Fame Monster EP (#16, +5%), Atlantic’s Zac Brown Band (#19, +5%), J Records’ Alicia Keys (#20, +5%) and Sony’s Now 32 (#36, +5%).
