INO/Columbia Christian SoCal rockers P.O.D.’s When Angels and Serpents Dance (#6) and Koch R&B star Ray J’s All I Feel (#8) are the other two newcomers to the Top 10.
Last week’s #1, MCA Nashville country icon George Strait’s Troubadour drops to #3, followed by SBMG/Commercial Music Group’s Now 27 (#4), Warner Bros.’ R.E.M. (#5), Razor & Tie’s Alvin & the Chipmunks soundtrack (#7), Def Jam/IDJ’s Rick Ross (#9) and Bad Boy/Atlantic’s Danity Kane (#10) round out the Top 10.
Null Corporation industrial rockers Nine Inch Nails’ instrumental album, Ghosts I-IV, distributed by R.E.D., leads a group of chart newcomers at #17. Other first-time entries include Hollywood singer-songwriter chanteuse Marie Digby (#24) and Island rock super group Ashes Divide (#34).
WB’s Linkin Park (#46), Fueled by Ramen’s Paramore (#49) and ERC’s The Eagles (#50) all return to the Top 50.
RCA’s Daughtry leads the week’s double-digit gainers, moving #38-16, +43%, thanks to his performance on last week’s American Idol Gives Back special while another ex-Idol alum, 19/Jive/ZLG’s Jordin Sparks capitalizes on her performance on the show to move #32-15, +31%. WB’s Jack White/Brendan Benson collab, the Raconteurs, climbs #24-13, +18%.
Next week, it’s all about Mariah Carey’s Island album, E=MC2, poised to break the year’s single season debut for sales after appearances this week on Oprah and a pair of American Idol shows.
Also look for sales spikes from the CMT Award winners, including Taylor Swift, Sugarland, Kellie Pickler and Trace Adkins.
