That’s enough to top the runner-up, Capitol’s still-strong Coldplay, whose Viva La Vida album clocks in with 119k, and 1.2 million to date, as its U.S. tour got underway this week in L.A.
Disney’s Camp Rock soundtrack remains #3, with 87k, ahead of DGC/Interscope’s Beck, one of two newcomers to the Top 10 at #4, with 78k for his Danger Mouse-produced Modern Guilt album.
The other Top 10 debut goes to Decca’s Mamma Mia! soundtrack in advance of the movie’s July 18 opening this Friday, as it goes head-to-head with The Dark Knight.
Atlantic’s Kid Rock climbs into the Top 5 at #5 for the first time with the week’s biggest double-digit gainer, moving 34%.
Rihanna’s Def Jam/IDJ reissue of her best-selling Good Girl Gone Bad album leads the rest of the week’s leaders at #6, followed by Capitol’s Now 28 (#7), Interscope’s G-Unit (#9) and LaFace/ZLG’s Usher (#10).
The unlikely pairing of Willie Nelson & Wynton Marsalis’ Blue Note collaboration, Two Men With the Blues, debuts at #25, along with the other Top 50 newcomer, XL/Columbia U.K. chanteuse Adele at #44.
Returning to the Top 50 are A&M/Octone’s Maroon 5, with a deluxe reissue of the platinum-plus It Won’t Be Soon Before Long album at #25, as well as Epic’s Natasha Bedingfield (#32), Interscope’s OneRepublic (#40), Columbia’s Metro Station (#41), Razor & Tie’s Alvin & the Chipmunks soundtrack (#49) and Def Jam/IDJ’s Rick Ross (#50).
Aside from Kid Rock, the week’s double-digit gainers are led by Rihanna (+25%) and Hollywood’s Jonas Brothers (#29-23, +20%).
Controversial Def Jam/IDJ rapper Nas is the week’s biggest release hitting retail at presstime, along with SRC/Universal Motown’s David Banner, Hear Music’s John Mellencamp, WB’s Randy Travis and Mercury’s Delta Goodrem.
