EMI MUSIC UPS COB-BAEHLER TO SVP, ADDS CREATIVE SERVICES

Publicity Veteran Gets Creative Services Slot
Sometimes the good people do get their just rewards.

Longtime publicity guru Angelica Cob-Baehler is one of those good ones, and she now gets a well-deserved promotion at EMI Music to SVP Publicity and Creative Services for North America.

Based in the Tower in L.A., she'll report to recently appointed EVP/Head of Marketing Howard Handler.

Cob-Baehler now oversees publicity and creative services efforts for artists on EMI Music’s rosters in the U.S. and Canada, including Angel, Astralwerks, Blue Note, Capitol, Capitol Latin (EMI’s joint venture with Televisa), Capitol Nashville, Manhattan and Virgin. She will have responsibility for all publicity campaigns and work in collaboration with artists and their management on creative imaging and direction for EMI artists.

“We are really fortunate to have Angelica leading the charge on publicity and creative services,” said Handler. “She has terrific relationships, experience and a great sensibility that have been so effective in helping our artists break through and build on their careers.”

Most recently, Cob-Baehler had been SVP Publicity and Creative Services for EMI Music’s Capitol Music Group in the U.S., and prior to that, was SVP Publicity for Virgin Records. Since joining EMI in 2006, she has played an integral part in the careers of artists such as 30 Seconds to Mars, A Fine Frenzy, Katy Perry, Iggy Pop and the Stooges, Joss Stone and KT Tunstall. She was also reponsible for getting Perry signed to the label and helping A&R the album.

Previously, she had been VP Publicity for Columbia Records for five years, responsible for the label’s West Coast publicity unit. While at Columbia, she developed and executed media campaigns for multi-platinum artists including John Mayer, System of a Down, The Offspring and Switchfoot, along with steering the campaigns of alternative music artists like The Raveonettes and Coheed and Cambria.

She began her music industry career in 1993 at Atlantic Records, where she held a number of publicity posts and worked on the successful career launches of Kid Rock, P.O.D., Sugar Ray and many others artists, while perfecting her nifty Patti Conte impression.

She has a bachelors degree in Political Science from UCLA, and is active in several global clean water initiatives, and is a board member of Generosity Water, which focuses on Africa, and the Thirst Project, which educates U.S. school children on clean water issues. And, in about six months, she'll have her first baby.
