Cam’ron Debuts at #3, but Political Punk-Rockers Still Top the Chart After Friday Release
When it comes to this week’s HITS Album Chart Breakdown, Reprise RecordsGreen Day emerges at the top of the heap.

With a total of 221k in sales since its release last Friday (5/15), the Bay Area punk provocateurs’ 21st Century Breakdown album debuts at #1, with more than three times the total of its nearest competitor.

Disney’s Hannah Montana: The Movie soundtrack remains at #2, with another 68k in sales, while Asylum rapper Cam’ron’s Crime Pays is the other Top 10 newcomer at #3, with 42k.

Interscope’s Lady Gaga, one of the few titles this week that actually went up, though just a touch at 2%, climbs to #4, while Lyric Street’s Rascal Flatts rounds out the Top 5.

Columbia’s Bob Dylan (#6), Big Machine’s Taylor Swift (#7), Def Jam/IDJ’s Chrisette Michele (#8), who topped last week’s chart, labelmate Rick Ross (#9) and Chop Shop/Atlantic’s Twilight soundtrack (#10) complete this week’s leader board.

Asylum’s Paul Wall (#18) is among this week’s newcomers, along with the INgrooves-distributed Tiny E’s Crystal Method (#22), Big Cat’s Gucci Mane (#27), and Mercury’s iTunes exclusive phenomenon Parachute (#38). Both Mercury Nashville’s Jamey Johnson (#49) and Capitol’s Katy Perry (#50) re-enter.

Among those acts showing upward mobility are RCA’s Kings of Leon (#16-13), Interscope’s Keri Hilson (#20-15), Atlantic’s Zac Brown Band (#22-16), J RecordsJamie Foxx (#26-21), Mercury Nashville’s Sugarland (#28-23), LaFace/JLG’s Pink (#30-24), Roadrunner’s Theory of a Deadman (#35-25), Atlantic’s Shinedown (#38-28) and Flo Rida (#43-37), Def Jam/IDJ’s The-Dream (#47-39) and A&M/Octone’s Hollywood Undead (#49-44).

Next week, expect a chart-topping bow for Shady/Aftermath/Interscope’s Eminem as well as new entries from Universal Motown’s Busta Rhymes, Universal Republic’s Tori Amos, IDJ’s Method Man & Redman and Lionel Richie, as well as Comedy Central’s Dane Cook. In addition, the physical version of Parachute hits retail this week.
