IT TAKES DANNY GOLDBERG TO FORM A VILLAGE

Industry Vet's Gold Village Entertainment Will Manage Steve Earle, Allison Moorer
From Al Franken to Steve Earle.

That's the path industry vet and former Atlantic, Warner Bros. and Mercury Records head Danny Goldberg is taking after announcing the formation of a new music-based company called Gold Village Entertainment. Headquartered in New York, the company will be involved in all aspects of the music business beginning with personal management.

Gold Village's first clients will be noted left-winger Earle and singer-songwriter Allison Moorer, whose just-released Sugarhill album, Getting Somewhere, is already garnering rave reviews.

Said Goldberg: “This is an extraordinary time in the music business. The music audience is the largest it has ever been. With every passing day changes in technology are creating new ways of getting entertainment to fans and empowering artists to express themselves in new ways. Clearly it is a time when new business models will emerge. I am convinced that regardless of how the business re-invents itself, creative talent will be at its center, more than ever before. And no, I'm not hiring Mel Gibson as my head of promotion.”

Goldberg was most recently CEO of Air America Radio, where he remains Vice Chairman. Prior to that, Goldberg was President of Atlantic Records, Chairman of Warner Brothers Records and President of Mercury Records. Following that, Goldberg returned to his entrepreneurial roots and launched Artemis Records where he was Chairman from 1999-2004 and remains a consultant to the label's parent company Sheridan Square Entertainment.

In the '80s, Goldberg originally created and built Gold Mountain Entertainment managing such artists as Nirvana, Hole, Bonnie Raitt, Rickie Lee Jones, Roy Orbison and the Allman Brothers, among others. Gold Village will partner in the management of Earle and Moorer with Gold Mountain, Nashville's Burt Stein.

Goldberg got his start as a journalist at Record World and Billboard magazines before being hired to run Led Zeppelin's label Swan Song in the late '70s. He is married to industry attorney Rosemary Carroll and they have two children together, Katie and Max.

Goldberg will serve as President of Gold Village and will be involved in all aspects of its business. Former Artemis exec Jesse Bauer has been named GM of Gold Village Entertainment in the company's N.Y. headquarters.
