PHIL Q EXITS EMI MUSIC TO FORM MUSIC & MARKETING CONSULTANCY

Highly Regarded and Well-Liked Veteran Exec Starts New Chapter in His Career
Phil Quartararo, Executive Vice President of EMI Music N.A., will be leaving the company at the end of December 2006 to establish his own strategic marketing company.

Quartararo, who joined EMI Music in 2002, helped create a new centralized sales and marketing organization at the company, called EMI Music Marketing, transforming it from a pure sales and distribution company into an innovative marketing organization. In 2005, he assumed a new role as EVP and part of the Office of the Chairman, where he worked closely with EMI Music N.A. Chairman/CEO David Munns to spearhead EMI strategic initiatives throughout EMI’s North American organization. He also oversaw EMI Music Marketing’s special marketing and strategic marketing units, which are charged with developing new revenue streams, building sports and lifestyle marketing initiatives, and licensing for soundtracks and synchronization.

Said Munns: “In these past five years that Phil has been with EMI, he has been a great advocate for our business in North America and provided me with tremendous support. I want to thank him for all his hard work and wish him every success for the future.”

Commented Phil Q: “It has been a pleasure to work side by side with David, Alain Levy and Eric Nicoli. I am very proud of what we’ve built together over the last few years and how well it serves our artists and consumers.”

Quartararo was President, Warner Bros. Records from 1997 to 2002 and before that was CEO of Virgin Records America from 1992 to 1997, a company he helped found in 1986.
