CARRABBA DABBA DO!: ZLG UPS TOM TO EVP/GM
Eighteen-year Label Vet Tom Carrabba Named to New Post by Weiss
One day, he even hopes to meet Justin Timberlake.

Tom Carrabba “Dancing Queen” has been named Executive Vice President and General Manager for Zomba Label Group by President/CEO Barry Weiss.

He will work closely with Weiss regarding all creative aspects of Zomba’s business, which includes the Jive, LaFace, Volcano, So So Def, Verity and GospoCentric labels, overseeing the marketing, publicity, sales, digital, international, creative services and production departments.

Prior to the promotion, Carrabba served as ZLG SVP/GM of the  Zomba Label Group. He first joined RCA Records in 1988 as Marketing Director, responsible for Jive Records product under a licensing agreement. He joined Jive Records in 1991 as Director of Marketing, and in 1995, became VP Sales and Marketing, then SVP Sales in 1996. In 1997, Tom was promoted to SVP/GM.

Said Weiss: “I’ve had the pleasure of working closely with Tom for the past 18 years. He is a very talented executive with that rare combination of creative sensibility and business sense. I look forward to his continuing contributions to Zomba’s success. And he brews a mean cup of java.”

Added Carrabba:  “My 18 years with Zomba have been filled with an enormous amount of personal gratification. The entrepreneurial spirit that has always underpinned the Zomba culture continues to this day, and is responsible for the success Zomba has garnered. I look forward to continuing to work with a real record man like Barry Weiss, along with the rest of my colleagues at the Zomba Label Group, as well as running the weekly point-spread pool during football season.”
