"It's a privilege to continue working with the great legacy of heritage artists on Columbia Records and help them reach new heights."

COLUMBIA EYES KRUGMAN REDUX

Veteran Label Exec Named to Head Adult Marketing
Welcome back, Jay. You can go home again.

Veteran marketing exec Jay Krugman has been named Senior Vice President, Adult Marketing for Columbia Records by SVP Marketing Barbara Jones, to whom he’ll report.

Krugman will develop, oversee and execute creative marketing campaigns for Columbia's adult contemporary and heritage artists, working closely with the label's marketing team and other departments in developing fresh strategies to realize maximum market potential. Other than that, he will tidy up around the office.

Krugman’s appointment marks a return to the label where, during a 10-year period, he served as VP Marketing before moving to Arista Records as SVP Marketing in 1996.

Said Jones: "Jay Krugman is one of the most capable and imaginative senior marketing executives in the music industry. He treats every project he works on as a top-shelf blue-chip priority and, thanks to his passion and commitment, his projects become perennial successes. I am really looking forward to working with Jay in creating new opportunities for all of our adult music artists. And continuing to call him Jay Kru."

Added Columbia GM Tom Donnarumma: "It gives me great pleasure to welcome Jay Krugman back to the Columbia family. No one knows the adult music market better than Jay and no one has a better sense of matching an artist with the widest possible target audience. From the smallest details of CD packaging to the big picture implications of emerging technologies, Jay knows how to put it all together to achieve optimum results for artists and consumers. With Jay in-place, the Columbia Marketing team is ready to take on new challenges and reach new goals. And he’s a great ringer for our office softball team."

Said Krugman: "It's great to be reunited with Steve Barnett, Tom Donnarumma, Barbara Jones and the incredible Columbia team. And it's a privilege to continue working with the great legacy of heritage artists on Columbia Records and help them reach new heights. Now, where’s that rascal Yetnikoff?"

Krugman spent the past two years as an independent marketing consultant, working on the Brian Wilson Smile project and the Eagles as well as guiding the recently announced AARP sponsorship of Tony Bennett's 2007 tour for his best-selling Duets project.

Krugman spent 1975-1985 as a recording engineer at N.Y.'s Record Plant, where he worked with a variety of artists from the Blues Brothers to Blue Öyster Cult.

He joined Columbia Records as Director of East Coast Marketing in 1986, and was upped to VP Marketing. He went to Arista Records as SVP Marketing in 1996, a position he held until 1999 when he moved to L.A. for Capitol Records, where he was named SVP Domestic & International Marketing, overseeing all aspects of the campaign for The Beatles 1.

In 2002, Mr. Krugman became SVP Catalog, EMI North America, where he oversaw the marketing plan for the Rolling Stones' Forty Licks greatest hits CD, among other projects. In 2003, he was named SVP DVD Development for EMI North America, a job he held until creating his own independent consulting firm.

Krugman received a BA from Harpur College/SUNY Binghamton in 1972.
