WHEELS & DEALS: DECONSTRUCTING AUSTIN

At the Music Biz’s Spring Break, It’s All About Bands, BBQ, Booze and Building Relationships
By Rodel Delfin

Schmoozing and networking seem to be the big themes this year. Word on the street is that this SXSW is going to be a big one for reaching out and strengthening relationships for industry folks. With all the volatility going on in the biz, many employed and unemployed industry types shared with us that they’ll be utilizing the confab to meet with other execs/companies who may be future employers. Rightfully so, we may be down to three music groups by the end of the year. However, expect to still see scouts to on the hunt for new talent. Of course, you can expect us to be cozying up to some BBQ and tequila.
