Rumblings coming out of the Bunny offices in Burbank have the label going through a major roster trimming. Word on the street is that new and developing acts with less than 100k in sales on their most recent LPs are being cut.

WHEELS & DEALS: TAKING FLIGHT, CHAD KROEGER, GOGOL BORDELLO, AMPLIFY MUSIC CONFERENCE

Rodel Likes the Kiwis, J's Murgatroyd Brings in Chad, Hollywood Fit to a T's, Ogling Gogol
by Rodel Delfin

FLIGHT OF THE WEASELS: Our favorite new show is HBO’s Flight of the Conchords, which airs Sunday nights after Entourage. We can’t get enough of them Kiwis. Kudos to Sub Pop for signing the musical comedy duo, whose debut EP, The Distant Future, is slated for release in August. We’re waiting on a phone call from their manager Murray about shopping their pub deal… BACK TO REALITY: Nickelback frontman Chad Kroeger and the band’s producer Joey Moi have formed a new label imprint though which the pair will sign and produce talent. The label is a joint venture with Clive DavisJ Records. A&R hitter Victor Murgatroyd brought the duo to Clive and mediated the deal. Moi is managed by producer manager Andrew Brightman, while Kroeger is repped by Nickelback management player Bryan Coleman of Union Entertainment Group. And for those coming to Vegas for Amplify next month, Moi will be on the Producer Panel… Hollywood Records act the Plain White T’s score a #1 single with "Hey There Delilah" at Top 40. Props go to A&R hitter Matt Harris for signing the group, and kudos to studio whiz Ariel Rechtshaid, who produced the hit single, and studio kingpin Johnny K, who produced the rest of the album. Meanwhile, Rechtshaid recently completed the sophomore LP by We Are Scientists, while Johnny K is currently producing the upcoming 3 Doors Down album... LIVE EARTH TIDBIT: Did you happen to see Gogol Bordello frontman Eugene Hutz and violinist Sergey Ryabtsev hit the stage with Madonna at her Live Earth performance a couple weeks ago? Pretty crazy. The band’s fourth album, Super Taranta!, was released last week on Bill and Joe’s SideOneDummy label… Rumblings coming out of the Bunny offices in Burbank have the label going through a major roster trimming. Word on the street is that new and developing acts with less than 100k in sales on their most recent LPs are being cut… NOSE FOR NOISE: What's up with North Carolina-based act The Noises 10? Word on the street is that the group showcased for a bevy of labels last week in Los Angeles. Labels reportedly on the showcase schedule were Atlantic, Island UK, Downtown, ATO, Mercury, Glassnote, MySpace Records, Warner Bros, Capitol, RCA and Universal... Finally, with Amplify now just a couple of weeks away, here’s an updated list of panelists added to the schedule: American Recordings GM Dino Paredes, Island SVP A&R Paul Pontius, Killers manager Robert Reynolds, Nickelback producer Joey Moi, Daughtry manager Stirling Mcilwaine, Big Champagne’s Joe Fleischer, EMI Music Publishing’s Matt Messer, Universal Music Publishing's Monti Olson, SESAC’s Josh Feingold and Jamie Dominguez, ASCAP’s Harry Poloner and Jennifer Knoepfle, Xzibit manager John Boyle, Pulse Music’s Jason Bernard, ChrysalisSara Kapuchinski and Scott Cresto, Island’s Will Westfall, attorney Leslie Frank, Atlantic’s Mollie Moore, Peer Music’s Steven Melrose, attorney Brian Schall and Creative License’s Joe Belliotti.
