IN STRATEGIC PARTNERSHIP

Deal will see Yahoo! Music Data Integrated Into Big Champagne Online Charts
BigChampagne Online Media Measurement, the company that has made a name for itself by measuring and charting file-sharing in the controversial peer-to-peer space (you probably use their data, even if you won’t admit it), yesterday announced that it has made a deal with Yahoo! Music to incorporate Yahoo! data in its chart reporting on the most popular music online.

BigChampagne says it will now include branded Yahoo! Muisc charts as part of its suite of online music charts, while also offering “integrated tools for exploring the relationship between online consumption and traditional outlets.”

For its part, Yahoo! Music will receive proprietary information from BigChampagne detailing the most popular artists and songs online, giving the music portal additional empirical information about what online music fans want.

"Airplay on Yahoo! Music has been moving the needle on music sales and awareness for quite some time now,” said Yahoo! Music head of Programming and Label Relations Jay Frank in a statement. “BigChampagne's new offering is a great new way for the music industry to truly aggregate what today's online music listener enjoys and how they are truly impacting the marketplace."

”Every day, BigChampagne analyzes data from millions of consumers to get a look around the corner,” said BigChampagne CEO Eric Garland. “Our company is focused on early insight into the often subtle relationship between impressions and response from the marketplace. Nowhere is that response more immediate, leading and predictive than among Yahoo! Music fans. Yahoo!
Music’s focus on tomorrow’s music today makes them an indispensable element of BigChampagne’s online media measurement. Features like the groundbreaking ‘Who’s Next?’ program have proven that time and time again.”

Yahoo! Music is currently the leading online music destination on the Web.

BigChampagne already provides radio and label subscribers with tools for comparing what’s being traded online with what’s being played on the air through its partnership with Nielsen Entertainment, whose BDS radio monitoring service logs over 100 million song detections annually on over 1,200 radio stations in 130 U.S. markets. BigChampagne chart syndication partners include Entertainment Weekly and E! Entertainment Television.
