Ex-MTV Exec Reports to Levy, Munns; Sony BMG Continental Europe Names Three to Key Posts
EMI Group has appointed Adam Klein to the post of Executive Vice President of Strategy and Business Development for EMI Music, the company announced today.

Klein was most recently a top advisor to MTV Networks Chairman and CEO Tom Freston (before Freston’s appointment to Viacom Co-President/Co-COO), where he helped to guide MTV’s strategy and business development activites.

In his new position, Klein will shape EMI’s global business strategy from its London headquarters, focusing on building commercial relationships in both the physical product market and in the online world. He will also oversee EMI’s digital technology, content protection and consumer research divisions. He will report to EMI Chairman/CEO Alain Levy and Vice Chairman David Munns.

Klein is taking the place of EMI Group EVP John Rose, who is leaving the company to return to consulting as a director of Boston Consulting Group based in New York.

Meanwhile, Sony BMG says its head of Continental Europe operations, Maarten Steinkamp, has appointed three key executives.

Jacques Campet is Senior Vice President, Continental Europe; Soeren Hinsch is Vice President, Continental Europe; and Bert Meyer is Senior Vice President, Continental Europe Repertoire. All three will report to Steinkamp.

Campet and Hinsch will oversee day-to-day operations of Sony BMG’s Continental Europe unit, focusing on integrating its territories under new structures. Meyer will oversee and streamline the unit’s regional repertoire and coordinate its exploitation both inside and outside the region. He will also work with A&R in reviewing local rosters.

Campet was most recently Sr. VP, Sony Music Entertainment Europe; Hinsch was VP International, BMG; Meyer was VP Continental Europe Repertoire, BMG.
