STRICK NAMED SONY/ATV PRESIDENT

Maverick, BMG Songs Vet Will Report to Chairman Hockman
Now he gets to hang with the Beatles and Michael Jackson.

In a move we revealed here last week, Danny Strick "or Street" has been named President for Sony/ATV Music Publishing U.S. by Chairman David "Knock" Hockman, to whom he reports. Mr. Strick will be based in New York.

Strick will work with the Hockman in overseeing the activities of the company's operations in the U.S., with the exception of Nashville, which will continue under the direction of Sony/ATV Music Publishing Nashville President/CEO Donna Hilley, who also reports to Hockman.

Commented SME Exec. VP Michele Anthony when told the appointment still wouldn't help her get tickets to a Madonna show: "It is still a genuine pleasure to welcome Danny to the company. Over the course of his successful career he has established a well-deserved
reputation as one of the most versatile and creative executives in the industry. He has an extraordinary track record of bringing out the very best in the artists and songwriters he works with, and an impressive history of developing new and innovative approaches to the business. I have every confidence that Danny will be a key factor as we continue to grow and
develop Sony/ATV Music Publishing in all areas. With the combination of David Hockman, Danny Strick and Donna Hilley, Sony/ATV is in excellent hands. Now will someone explain what a publishing executive actualy does?"

Added Hockman: "Danny's passionate commitment to the artists and songwriters he works with has earned him countless friends within the creative community, and his broad-based experience encompasses virtually every aspect of music publishing, ranging from his early days as a songplugger to the role he has played in negotiating the acquisition of a broad array of music publishing catalogs. He brings to this position a deep understanding of the creative process, extremely strong relationships within the film and TV community, and an impressive ability to develop and implement new and highly successful strategies. This key addition provides us with a significant competitive advantage in the marketplace. I look forward to working closely with Danny as we further establish Sony/ATV Music Publishing as a leading force in the industry. And now he can take Michael Jackson's calls."

Strick most recenlty served as a senior A&R executive for Maverick Recording since 2000. During his tenure with Maverick, he signed Michelle Branch and worked closely with her on her two albums, which sold more than four million units worldwide, and generated five Top 10 singles.

From 1996 to 2000 he was President of BMG Songs, the U.S. division of BMG Music Publishing. During his tenure at BMG, the company experienced strong growth fueled by a number of artist/writer signings including Cypress Hill, Wu-Tang Clan, Nelly, Beck, Method Man, Duncan Sheik, Mobb Deep, The Roots, House of Pain, Michael Penn and Elliott Smith, among others. He also helped build a film and TV division for BMG that placed its writers' songs in a wide variety of film and TV soundtracks. He joined BMG Songs as VP/GM in 1989.

Prior to coming to BMG, he spent 10 years in the music publishing business at various companies including Jobete Music, United Artists Music, CBS Songs and MCA Music Publishing. He began his music publishing career began in 1978 as a songplugger at Shelter Records' Skyhill Music Publishing.
