"The combination of their strong leadership skills, marketing savvy and impressive experience will make Sony BMG Sales Enterprise a driving force in the marketplace."

Sony BMG Continues to Follow 50-50 Split, as Pair Share Sales, Distribution Responsibilities
Sony BMG Music Entertainment continues to put together their team with 50-50 equanimity.

The last remaining power post, overseeing the sales and respective distribution arms (whose physical pick-and-pack functions are not part of the merger), will be shared by Sony's Bill Frohlich and BMG's Jordan Katz.

Frohlich and Katz have been named Co-Presidents, Sony BMG Sales Enterprise, by COO Michael Smellie, to whom they both report, a former BMG exec who is now #2 in the company in back of COO Andrew Lack from the Sony side.

In their new roles, Frohlich and Katz will oversee the newly formed Sony BMG Sales Enterprise, which will include the former distribution operations of Sony Music Distribution, including RED Distribution, as well as BMG Distribution, and Sony Music Studios, Special Products and Sony Wonder. They will be based in New York.

Said Smellie: "In Bill and Jordan we have two of the most accomplished and talented executives in the sales and retail business. The combination of their strong leadership skills, marketing savvy and impressive experience will make Sony BMG Sales Enterprise a driving force in the marketplace. Under Bill and Jordan's leadership, I am confident that this new operation will quickly set a new standard for excellence within our industry... and by having them share an office, we save on overhead."

Frohlich was most recently EVP Sales for Sony Music Distribution, overseeing all of Sony Music Distribution's operations since 2003. Prior to that appointment, he served as Epic Records Group SVP Sales since 1998. During his tenure at Epic, he implemented and oversaw sales plans and programs at the branch and retail levels for all Epic releases and worked closely with the label's marketing department. Mr. Frohlich first joined Sony Music/CBS Records in 1978 as an Inventory Specialist, and subsequently held positions of increasing responsibility, including Manager for a variety of Sony Music Distribution branches and chief sushi chef.

Katz most recently served as BMG Distribution EVP/GM. Prior to that, he served as SVP Sales, Arista Records, where he oversaw the sales team and was a key member of Arista's executive team. He held a number of sales and retail marketing positions since joining the label in 1987 as an intern, including HITS' Retail guru Mark Pearson's puppetmaster. Mr. Katz took a leadership role both at BMG and Arista on the use of new technologies including developing strategies to combat piracy and storing his entire music collection on his BlackBerry.
