Both Duff and Rascal Flatts look like they’ll sell just over 200k by the end of the week, securing the top two chart berths by a comfortable margin. We’ll just have to wait and see who ends up on top.

HOLLYWOOD HISTORY

Hilary Duff, Rascal Flatts to Comprise Next Week’s Top 2, Marking a First for Disney Label
Hooray for Hollywood, where everything’s coming up roses at the moment.

Two new albums, Hilary Duff’s Hilary Duff (Hollywood/Buena Vista) and Rascal FlattsFeels Like Today (Lyric Street/Hollywood), are on track to fight it out for #1 on next week’s album chart, marking a first for the Disney label. (Duff’s last album debuted at #2 before going to #1, while the Mission Impossible 2 soundtrack also debuted at #2.)

And if you’re gonna have a #1 album debut, you might as well have a #2 album debut at the same time. According to early reports from national accounts, both Duff and Rascal Flatts look like they’ll sell just over 200k by the end of the week, securing the top two chart berths by a comfortable margin. We’ll just have to wait and see who ends up on top.

Also hitting the streets yesterday was The Used’s In Love & Death (Reprise), which appears headed for a first week tally of 125k, and Ciara’s Goodies (LaFace/ZLG) which is looking like it’ll log a 100k first week.

Following those two are Joss Stone’s Mind, Body & Soul (S-Curve/EMC) and Talib Kweli’s Beautiful Struggle (Geffen), each of which looks to be on track to sell around 70k for the week.

Then there’s Marilyn Manson’s Lest We Forget greatest-hits package (Interscope) and Interpol’s Antics (Matador). After one day on sale, projections indicate both will score first-week numbers on the order of 60k, though major numbers from indie accounts could push Interpol higher. Stay tuned.
