DONIO DONS NARM MANTLE

Longtime Exec Given Presidency with 2005 NARM Confab Once Again Slated for San Diego
Meet the new NARM boss, same as the interim NARM boss.

There’s finally a successor to Pam Horovitz, who exited the post last year.

In a long overdue move, the National Association of Recording Merchandisers has appointed Acting President and longtime exec Jim Donio as President. The position had reportedly been on hold pending a decision on a possible merger with VSDA.

But in light of last week’s announcement that NARM was proceeding with plans to hold next year’s convention once again in San Diego without VSDA, the board obviously felt it was time to act.

NARM Chairman Glen Ward released the following statement: "Since Jim was appointed Acting President, NARM has made progress against a number of key priorities identified by the Board. There has been a significant increase in membership and Jim had overall responsibility for one of NARM’s most highly rated conventions in years. What is more, Jim’s long tenure, extensive experience and dedication to the Association has been of tremendous benefit. The Board is, therefore, delighted to announce Jim’s appointment as President of the Association."

Donio adds: "I greatly appreciate the Board’s vote of confidence and welcome the opportunity to continue to work with NARM’s members and the entertainment retailing industry to embrace the opportunities and meet the challenges that lie ahead"

Donio has been with NARM since 1988 when he joined the association as Director of Creative Services.
