According to early reports from national accounts, the album is on track to sell around 550k in its first week, which means the project is hitting its marks straight out of the box, and then some.

ONE-DAY SALES: IT’S D12’S WORLD, WE’RE JUST LIVING IN IT

Eminem’s Detroit Posse Drops Sophomore Disc, Set To Wipe Floor With Rest of Chart
Detroit in the hizzouse, yo.

To translate from the popular street vernacular kids from Valencia to Kansas City are using these days, “Eminem and his friends would like you to know they’ve made another album of musical recordings featuring ill rhymes and dope beats, so please buy it, bitches.”

Indeed, D12’s D12 World (Shady/Interscope) is in the streets and has already been declared next week’s runaway #1 album. According to early reports from national accounts, the album is on track to sell around 550k in its first week, which means the project is hitting its marks straight out of the box, and then some.

Thus, even if Usher, whose Confessions (LaFace/ZLG) has been holding strong, maintains this week’s chart pace of 257k for another week, his five-week run at the top will come to an end courtesy of an album selling nearly twice as much.

Also set to debut on next week’s chart is Diana Krall’s The Girl in the Other Room (Verve), which features songwriting collaborations with hubby Elvis Costello, as well as covers of songs by Tom Waits, Mose Allison and Joni Mitchell—a departure from her usual repertoire of jazz standards.

Early reports indicate Krall’s album should sell around 125k-130k for the week, which gives it a shot at a Top 5 berth. And some feel the album’s upper-demo appeal means it will likely trend up as the week progresses, making a high debut even more likely.

So do you like it rough, or do you like it smoove? Take your pick and get back to us, you knuckleheads.
