"This new, powerful sales department will enable us to develop fully integrated, long-term sales strategies that will benefit all of the company’s artists, labels and divisions."

DONNARUMMA, FROHLICH SET SALES FOR SONY

Donnarumma Named EVP Sales for Sony Music Group, Frohlich Tapped as SMD EVP Sales

Tom Donnarumma and Bill Frohlich, come on down.

The price is apparently right for Sony Music, which solidified its sales department by upping the two industry vets.

Donnarumma was named Executive Vice President Sales for the Sony Music Label Group by Sony Music U.S. President Don Ienner, to whom he’ll report, while Frohlich was boosted to Executive Vice President Sales for Sony Music Distribution by Sony Music Entertainment Corporate Exec. VP Robert M. Bowlin.

Hope they get it straight on the new business cards.

Donnarumma, who was Sr. VP Sales & Retail Marketing for the Columbia Records Group, will head the company’s now single, unified department, overseeing all sales efforts for its U.S. labels and divisions, including Columbia, Epic, Legacy Recordings, Sony Classical, Sony Music Nashville and Sony Discos. He’ll develop overall sales strategies for the company’s releases, directly oversee the sales staff at each of the company’s labels and supervise account advertising on both the national and regional levels. And he’ll personally unpack all returns and sell them to a one-stop in Taiwan.

Most recently Sr. VP Sales for Epic Records, Frohlich will oversee all sales efforts for SMD, working closely with Sony Music Label Sales Group in developing and implementing distribution and sales strategies, and collecting the change from office vending machines.

Commented Ienner on Donnarumma: "This new, powerful sales department will enable us to develop fully integrated, long-term sales strategies that will benefit all of the company’s artists, labels and divisions. Tom Donnarumma’s knowledge, skill and dedication to our artists make him the perfect choice to head sales efforts for all of the company’s U.S. labels. I have every confidence that under Tom’s capable leadership the Sony Music Sales team will enjoy a significant advantage in the marketplace. And he’s agreed to wear a sandwich board touting our new releases while he walks up and down Madison Avenue."

Said Bowlin about Frohlich: "Bill is an extremely talented executive, and he brings to his new role a passionate approach to the business, marketing savvy and considerable sales expertise. During his tenure with the company, he has made numerous contributions to our growth and development, and this new position will taken even greater advantage of his many talents. I look forward to working with Bill as we roll out an ambitious series of new sales campaigns that will ensure optimum positioning for our artists and releases at retail. I just wish he’d stop biting the heads off doves at the weekly marketing and sales meeting."

Frohlich’s position will make him the #2 exec at Sony Music Distribution, with a distribution topper expected to be named in the near-future.
