RILEY UPPED TO ARTISAN SENIOR VP

Exec to Supervise Day-to-Day Activities of Film Company’s Music Division

Artisan Entertainment’s Gwen Bethel "Life Of" Riley has been promoted to Senior VP, Music.

In her expanded role, Riley will now be responsible for supervising all of the day-to-day activities of Artisan’s music division, while continuing to report directly to Artisan Entertainment President/COO "Barbie &" Ken Schapiro, who made the announcement.

Prior to her promotion, Riley served as VP of Music for Artisan Entertainment.

As Senior VP of Music, Riley’s duties will include oversight of all music-related elements for Artisan’s theatrical and home entertainment properties. Additionally, she will be responsible for managing Artisan’s music publishing catalog, soundtrack distribution and business affairs. Riley is currently overseeing the music production for Artisan and Miramax Films’ upcoming feature film Havana Nights: Dirty Dancing 2.

"Gwen has done a tremendous job overseeing the numerous functions of the Company’s music department," said Schapiro. "She is a very savvy executive whose knowledge of both the music and film industry has benefited the Company greatly."

Riley added, "It’s great to work for a studio that has such a strong commitment to the music elements that help define films like Buena Vista Social Club, Standing in the Shadows of Motown and Amandla! As music oriented projects like Havana Nights: Dirty Dancing 2 come to fruition, I look forward to building strong musical awareness for each film and contributing to the overall success of the Company."

Upon joining Artisan as VP of Music in 1998, Riley secured a deal for worldwide administration of the Artisan Music publishing catalog with Sony Publishing. Over the past 5 years, she has been involved with the creation, marketing and distribution of over 23 soundtrack albums including the innovative soundtrack joint venture for The Blair Witch Project on Artisan’s own label Flash Cut Records.

Prior to Artisan, Riley served as VP Business Affairs for Music at The Shooting Gallery, where she structured the soundtrack and music division for their east coast office and oversaw all aspects of music supervision and business affairs. While at The Shooting Gallery, Riley launched Clear Music, a music supervision company, with co-associate Barry Cole.
