Musiq, Ashanti, B2K and Nelly were double winners at the 17th annual Soul Train Music Awards on Saturday, while Mariah Carey and LL Cool J received career achievement awards.
Musiq won best male R&B/soul single for the second year in a row with "Dontchange." He took the best album trophy in the same category with Juslisen, beating Maxwell, Justin Timberlake and last year's winner, Usher.
Ashanti won best female R&B/soul single for "Foolish" and album for Ashanti, beating out works by Amerie, Erykah Badu and India.Arie.
B2K took best R&B single by a group, band or duo for "Bump, Bump, Bump" and best album in the same category for their self-titled debut.
Nelly's Nellyville was named R&B/soul or rap album of the year, and the rapper also won the Sammy Davis Jr. Award for entertainer of the year.
Amerie was named best R&B/soul or rap new artist, while Missy Elliott's "Work It" won the Michael Jackson Award for best music video.
Kirk Franklin's The Rebirth of Kirk Franklin was named best gospel album.
Carey and LL Cool J each received the Quincy Jones Award for outstanding career achievement, and both performed during the show. Other performers included Dru Hill and Gerald Levert.
Queen Latifah and Arsenio Hall co-hosted the event, which was taped for a future syndicated broadcast that aired in some markets Saturday.
