SMALLVILLE SOUNDTRACK LOOMS LARGE FOR ELEKTRA

AOLTW Combines Assets to Create Ultimate Experience for Fans
Look, up in the air. It’s a bird. It’s a plane. No, it’s AOLTW doing the synergy thing on the Feb. 25 release of the soundtrack to the hit TV show Smallville.

The House Gerry Built Then Left For Dick is combining its forces to create an unprecedented joint venture. The program features the early years of Clark Kent before he became Superman, with Tom Welling as Kent, Kristin Kreuk as Lana Lang and Michael Rosenbaum as bad guy Lex Luthor.

Elektra Records, the WB TV Network, Warner Bros. Television, AOL, DC Comics, Warner Books, Little Brown and Co., Teen People, HBO and Tollin/Robbins Prods. are all teaming up to participate in making the Smallville: The Talon Mix soundtrack a treat for fans of the show.

Elektra Entertainment Group Chairman/CEO Sylvia Rhone, known around the office as Wonder Woman, said the enormous audience for the show has created a built-in awareness for the release of the soundtrack. "This launching pad, combined with the unprecedented opportunities provided by AOLTW’s tremendous array of resources has created a unique menu of added value components that speaks directly to Smallville fans and music buyers’ alike."

The unprecedented extra-packed CD will include:

Online access to the sold-out first issue of DC Comics’ Smallville comic book.

Preview chapters of the upcoming DC Comics’ Smallville novels from Little, Brown and Company and Warner Books.

A 3-D interactive map of the town of Smallville.

VonRay’s live performance of the first single, "Inside Out" (which they originally played acoustically at The Talon in the episode, "Ryan") and Remy Zero’s HBO Reverb performance of "Perfect Memory."

One of three collectible trading cards of Lana, Lex or Clark in every package.

A coupon for a free preview issue of Teen People.

Aside from Remy Zero and VonRay, artists on the album include Weezer, Ryan Adams, Sixpence None the Richer, Lifehouse, Five for Fighting, Phantom Planet, Eva Cassidy, the Flaming Lips and new Elektra artists Steadman and AM Radio, managed by Weezer's Rivers Cuomo.

The WB Co-President of Marketing Lew Goldstein called the marriage of music and his network’s programming "our signature… This soundtrack is a tremendous opportunity to extend the authentic sounds of Smallville to a fully enhanced music experience."

Among the marketing initiatives:

AOL will host an exclusive online listening party for the album, with a sneak peek of the interactive map accessible only to CD-buyers.

A dedicated Smallville custom radio station is now up and running at AOL’s Radio@Network.

Smallville airs Tuesdays from 9-10 pm (ET/PT) on The WB Network and is produced by Tollin/Robbins Prods. and Warner Bros. Television.
