Perry Farrell’s alternative branchild begins July 3 at the Ionia County Fairgrounds in Grand Rapids, MI, with the last scheduled stop August 23 at White River Amphitheatre in Seattle, WA. The slate includes dates in New York July 30 at Jones Beach and in L.A. at the Hyundai Pavilion on August 16.
"Lollapalooza’s mission is to be great and wonderful, to speak to people and speak for the earth, and to embody music’s power to bring people together," said Farrell. "It was created to share the bountiful gifts that our culture holds, and now it’s returning to enjoy its permanent place in that culture. And hopefully, provide me with some killer herb for the duration of the tour."
As previously announced, Jane’s Addiction will headline the first edition of the tour since 1997, with Audioslave, Incubus, Jurassic 5, The Donnas and A Perfect Circle, who will alternate dates with Queens of the Stone Age.
The Blender Magazine Second Stage, revealed today, features the Distillers, Cold, Jackass crazy Steve-O, The Music, Cave In, Kings of Leon, Rooney, the Mooney Suzuki, Pharoahe Monch, Burning Brides, 30 Seconds to Mars and the exotic Bellydance Superstars.
The tour will also house the World of Just (Be)Causes, which will feature both local and national nonprofits addressing a range of social issues, continuing the festival’s commitment to progressive politics, with an emphasis on providing information about alternate energies.
