"Everything that we do at MTV2 is based on a foundation of great music and great music videos. Our new weekend music blocks and this slate of music-based programming are a direct response to what our audience craves—new music, hip-hop, rock, interactivity and a deeper connection to artists."

NOW IT’S MTV2’S TURN
Sister Channel Launches New Slate of Music Series and Specials

MTV2’s new slate of programming features the return of Headbangers Ball, a redesigned version of the interactive video program Control Freak and a new weekend line-up of shows, including the hip-hop block, "Sucker Free Sundays."

The schedule includes a new weekend line-up of music video-based programming every Friday, Saturday and Sunday.

New music series slated to bow include Track 2, where artists provide running commentary on their videos; Spoke N Heard, the new alternative hip-hop video show; and "22 Greatest MCs," the second in the channel’s 22 Greatest series.

The famed metal show Headbangers Ball returns every Saturday night at 10 p.m., while Subterranean, which will air Friday nights starting May 9 with special guests the Yeah, Yeah Yeahs, highlights the best new music from the U.S. and around the world. Metallica will host the premiere Ball May 10.

Said MTV2 GM David Cohn: "Everything that we do at MTV2 is based on a foundation of great music and great music videos. Our new weekend music blocks and this slate of music-based programming are a direct response to what our audience craves—new music, hip-hop, rock, interactivity, a deeper connection to artists and tons of advertising targeted at their pocketbooks."

"Sucker Free Sundays" starts May 11, with MTV2 presenting a block of hip-hop programming hosted by a different hip-hop star each week, starting with 50 Cent. The block will feature the premiere of MTV2’s new "Hip-Hop Countdown," plus the hottest hip-hop videos and an Eminem’s Greatest MTV Moments special.

Other specials scheduled for airing include Nose Dive, which looks at the pivotal moments in an artist career where they not only "jumped the shark," but took a "nose dive."

The 2$ Bill Concert Series returns on June 17 with an exclusive Radiohead concert, while the network will provide live coverage of the first Field Day Festival June 7-8 from Long Island, N.Y., with Radiohead, Beck and the Beastie Boys.

Monster Mix blends together music videos to create a non-stop video experience, kicking off May 24 with The Re-Mix Saved My Life, a one-hour special. The Short Attention Span Video Show programs 30 videos in a half-hour.
