Ron "Rich Man" Poore "Man"is the new Senior Vice President Rock Formats for Atlantic Records. One day, he may even get to meet Jimmy Page…or at least the members of P.O.D.
The N.Y.-based promo exec will oversee the label’s Rock and Alternative radio activities, according to Exec. VP Andrea "Cles and the Lion" Ganis. He comes to the label following eight years with RCA, most recently as Sr. VP Rock Promotion.
"Ron is one of the most accomplished and knowledgeable people in the business, with 20 years of Rock radio and promotion experience under his belt," said Ganis. "With Ron on board, we are continuing Atlantic’s tradition at Rock radio as we redouble our commitment to breaking a new generation of Rock and Alternative artists. And he can play a mean air guitar to Savatage."
Added Poore: "It is truly an honor to work with the best promotion staff in the business. I am so excited about working with and learning from Andrea Ganis and Danny Buch. It’s a lifelong dream for a kid from Muncie, IN, to be part of the legendary Atlantic Records and work White Lion albums. Whaddaya mean they’re not on the label anymore?"
Poore’s first promotion post was at Relativity in 1989. He went on to work for Chrysalis, IRS, Atco, Imago and RCA. He began his industry career at WXKE in Fort Wayne before becoming PD at WOXY in Cincinnati.
