ONE-DAY SALES: A QUIET WEEK

No Major Releases Means Nothing to Track
As we have mentioned before, this week will pass without any major new releases out of respect for the first anniversary of last year's terrorist attacks.

Thus, we can't do our usual tap-dance about early sales reports for new releases, because there aren't any. We can, however, still state the obvious: Look for the Dixie Chicks, who have now sold over 1 million in two weeks, to keep Eminem at bay and hold onto #1 on next week's chart, as even a precipitous drop from this week's sales figure would still put them well ahead of the rest.

Next week, Believe, the new album from Disturbed (Warner Bros.) will hit the streets, providing the first viable challenge to the Chicks' dominance. Many, many fans are expected to demonstrate that they are still "down with the sickness" by purchasing the metalists' sophomore release.

But that's next week. This week, just thinking a kind thought for 9/11's victims, and for all of us, should be enough.
