WEEK IN PREVIEW: CREED INDEED!
If it sounds repetitive, it is, as the Wind-up band will be number one again this week, remaining on the perch it has occupied since Thanksgiving. The rest of the Top 10 should be familiar to you, though take a quick gander at the jump that the Mercury/IDJ O Brother Where Art Thou? ST gets thanks to its Album of the Year Grammy nomination. No surprise there, as the record reacts to everything that happens in O Brother land—the movie appearing on cable or coming out on video, the ST receiving Country Music Association awards or the president fainting. The soundtrack, released Dec. 5, 2000, seems to have an endless life.
Streeting Tuesday is Arista Nashville's Alan Jackson, which could threaten the Creedsters for the top spot on the chart next week. But that's next week.
The Einsteins in radio tell us that at Top 40, it will be Cher (Warner Bros.), Natalie Imbruglia (RCA) and Darren Hayes (Columbia) finishing neck-in-neck-in-neck for Most Added, with cleanup adds on Kylie Minogue (Capitol) and Michelle Branch (Maverick). Look for early adds on Alanis Morissette (Maverick) following the premature leaking of her track last week. RCA's Headstrong will be among the Most Added at Rock. Over at Crossover, it looks like DMX f/Faith Evans (Def Jam), Ginuwine (Epic) and Tweet (Goldmind/Elektra) will finish one, two and three. The tricksters at PoMo say Most Added will be RCA's Trik Turner.
Now back to our regularly scheduled sucking, which we've been doing since well before Thanksgiving.
