FullAudio has licensed songs from AOL Time Warner’s Warner Music Group catalog, expanding to three the number of major record labels that have licensed FullAudio songs for its forthcoming Internet music service.
FullAudio is developing a subscription music service that will allow consumers to download songs to their computers, portable music players and other devices for a monthly fee.
"FullAudio has developed an innovative online subscription service that will enable consumers to experience a wide variety of artists and music in a dynamic listening environment," said Paul Vidich, Executive VP, Strategic Planning and Business Development for WMG. "With the addition of FullAudio to the group of companies we have licensed for online music subscription services, we can continue to offer our labels and artists powerful resources to reach more music consumers in exciting new ways."
The FullAudio service will be available to consumers through the company's online partners. The first of those partners to be announced, Clear Channel, will launch its service later this month.
FullAudio will compete against music industry joint ventures MusicNet and Pressplay and start-ups like Listen.com, all of which are attempting to offer commercial alternatives to renegade Internet file-sharing services like Morpheus and LimeWire.
FullAudio has already licensed the catalogs of Universal Music Group and EMI.
