"I made my first dollar in radio, and what initially attracted me to it still holds true today. It’s a playing field of ideas and creativity limited only by one’s imagination."

FOR INFINITY, THERE’S NO BUSINESS LIKE SCHUON BUSINESS

Ex-KROQ, MTV, Pressplay Exec Named
President of Programming
Veteran music exec Andy Schuon is exiting the digital world to return to broadcasting.

The former KROQ and MTV programmer, Farmclub.com head and Warner Bros. Records GM will ankle his post at Pressplay to take over as President of Programming for Infinity Broadcasting, it was announced by Chairman/CEO John Sykes, Schuon's onetime colleague at VH1.

Schuon will concentrate on group-wide programming opportunities, leveraging the combined power of 183 stations that reach 73 million listeners a week. He’ll also work with stations on a local level on development strategies and help spit-polish Mel Karmazin’s Italian loafers.

It marks a return to Viacom for the popular industry figure, where he previously worked at MTV, VH1 and KROQ L.A.

Commented Sykes: "We are very pleased that Andy is back home. He is both an incredibly creative thinker and strategist. Andy is one of the most prolific programming executives I have ever met, and his knowledge of the divisions of Viacom, along with his experience in radio, television, music and the Internet, make him the perfect executive to take the programming at Infinity to new levels of success. But if he thinks he’s getting his old room back, he’s sadly mistaken."

Added Schuon: "I made my first dollar in radio, and what initially attracted me to it still holds true today. It’s a playing field of ideas and creativity limited only by one’s imagination. So I am thrilled to have the opportunity to return to radio, to work with John Sykes again, and to reconnect with so many of my friends and colleagues at Infinity and Viacom. By the way, is Jesse Camp still around?"

Schuon was most recently President/CEO of Pressplay, overseeing all aspects of the company’s operations. "I remain a strong supporter of Pressplay’s vision for the future and feel that it will continue in its growth as the most compelling subscription service in the marketplace. And, if you believe that, can I interest you in some cheap stock options?"

Before that, he was Founder/President/COO of Farmclub.com, where he oversaw all aspects of the media company’s label operations, online activities, cable TV programming and animal husbandry. He was also Exec. VP/GM of Warner Bros., responsible for all creative and administrative issues surrounding promotion, marketing, artist relations, advertising and sales.

Schuon also spent several years at MTV, rising to EVP Programming for the network, where he was Executive Producer of the MTV Video Music Awards and MTV Movie Awards. He also served as EVP Programming for VH1 as part of that channel’s successful relaunch.

Schuon got his start as an on-air personality at KOZZ Reno in 1981, before seguing to KROQ in L.A., where he was PD from 1989-92.
